The Importance and Beauty of “Hope”

As the days of summer fade into the past the fall marks the beginning of an exciting time. For the young people in our lives, the fall means the start of a new school year, one filled with excitement, unknowns and a proliferation of great aspirations!  Yes, this time of year surely is one of hope for a great and better future!

But hope is not just for the young, it belongs to everyone.  You may have heard the expression, “without hope, there is no future”. Stated in other words, (mine), without hope we are trapped as victims because when we lose hope we are destined to live only in the past, lacking spark, drive, or initiative.

But if we have hope we are pointed excitedly toward the future, and we experience growth, self-fulfillment and self-actualization.  Hope gives our life rejuvenated direction, filling us with purpose which triggers our passion.

So as you begin the month of September 2013, may each of you live with hope and knowledge that a brighter future is within your grasp.  Believe that each day of your life can be personally fulfilling and all you have to do is make the decision right now not to waste time.  Understand that time is the most precious gift you have, but it is a finite commodity.  Refuse to waste even a second. Commit to engage only in activities that you are passionate about, activities that drive you. Stay focused.  If you do, your life will be filled with anticipation, expectation, wonder and abundance.

It doesn’t matter whether your life has been blessed or whether it has been filled with disappointment, it is up to you to decide how you are going to respond.

As Rick St. Croix said, “it’s not what happens, but how you respond”.  How you choose to respond is a choice.  It is entirely up to you.
